Distinguished Alumni Award!

****  Our Director, Kelli McGonagill Finglass (DCC 1984, 85, 86, 87, 88, has been selected as the recipient of the 2012 LISD Distinguished Alumni Award from her high school, Lindale High!  The Distinguished Alumni Award is given to a LHS graduate whose achievements, strengths of character and citizenship serve as a model to inspire and challenge current students.  Congratulations Kelli!

Texas Monthly!

****  Dara McFarlane (DCC 2007, 08) has just started her fourth, and final, season as a Laker Girl!  Congratulations Dara!  Enjoy this year and we can’t wait to see what the next chapter is!

****  Kristen Pavuk Depew (DCC 1990, 91) is happy to announce that her father, Jack, has published a book!  It is a political thriller and one review claimed it to be ‘the finest book I’ve read in some time.’  Check out this nice interview the DMN had with Mr. Pavuk:

Leslie Crozier, a friend of Natalie’s, flew to LA with Natalie to root on Melissa.... here they are after the show.....

****  Leslie Ezelle (DCC 1998, 89) was recently invited back to HGTV’s ‘Design Star’ to compete as an ‘AllStar’.  Not only did she compete, she WON!  Several of us attended a watching party at Studio Movie Grill.  For her efforts, Leslie received a nice chunk of change and a guest appearance on an upcoming HGTV show.....

****  Look what arrived in my mailbox the other day....  D Magazine with Deon Sharp Scheinberg’s (DCC 1988, 89) husband on the cover!  ‘Dr. Bob’ was selected as one of the area’s top orthopedic surgeons.  As a patient, I can attest he is the best!  Congrats!

****  Erica Perry (DCC 2004, 06, 07) recently appeared on ‘The Next’ representing Dallas and the great state of Texas!  She rocked the house and her DCC sisters were there to support her!  Check out the clip below:

****  You’ll be seeing alot more of Micaela Johnson (DCC 2003, 04) in the coming weeks!  Not only did she just appear opposite Channing Tatum as Portia in ‘Magic Mike’, you will see her in a national Chevy Malibu commercial and a national Almay commercial with Kate Hudson!  Micaela said it was awesome getting to work with the acclaimed Steven Soderberg and the guys dancing helped the days fly by...  What I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall....

****  Shelly Roper McCaslin (DCC 1989, 90, 91) was recently featured in Texas Monthly Magazine!  She appeared in the ‘Working Life’ section which focuses on a Texan and their job.  It is usually a person with a unique job.... I think working for the DCC qualifies as unique and quite special!

Congratulations! The Lindale ISD Alumni Association is pleased to notify you that you have been chosen to receive the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award. Nominations for this award were solicited through local newspapers, request to the Alumni Association members, and through Lindale ISD and Lindale ISD Education Foundation websites. Nominations were reviewed by the Distinguished Alumni Awards Committee and approved by the Alumni Association Board.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is given to a Lindale High School graduate whose achievements, strengths of character and citizenship serve as a model to inspire and challenge current students.
As the recipient of this prestigious award, we would like to recognize you prior to the start of the Lindale High School Homecoming game on Friday, September 14. You will also be recognized at the school pep rally and at a brief reception following the rally. More specific information about times and locations of the events will be provided to you soon. If you are unable to attend the recognition ceremonies on this date, we are more than happy to work with you on a more convenient date and time at which you can be honored.

The Lindale ISD Education Foundation established the Lindale ISD Alumni Association for former students, LHS graduates and teachers. The purpose of the association is to provide a network among graduates, former classmates and teachers; maintain and update a database of LHS graduates; provide a liaison between the school district and class reunions committees; provide updated information and details on upcoming events through a newsletter; and identifies the Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Award recipients.

Congratulations on being chosen as the 2012 Lindale ISD Distinguished Alumni. The Alumni Board has every reason to believe that the presentation of this award will be a prestigious honor to which every Lindale Independent School District graduate will aspire.

DCC AllStars Justine Phillips Orf (DCC 2005, 06, 07, 08, 09), Sunni Cranfill West (DCC 2009, 10, 11), Ashton Torres Little (DCC 2009, 10, 11), and Elizabeth Davis Wisdom (DCC 2004, 05, 06) performed with Nelly and Joe Jonas on the show.

****  A big congratulations goes out to Cheri Motes Urie (DCC 1987) for earning the title of #1 dance school in Nashville!  Cheri asked me to share this with you....


Well, as usual, when you call upon your DCC sisters for their support, they come through BIG! I wanted to thank all the DCC sisters who took the time to go online and vote for my dance studio in the Parent Magazine poll a few months back.  My studio, Elite Dance, won the top honor this year and was voted the #1 Dance Studio in Nashville!  I am going on my 7th season in Nashville and for the last 3 years, Elite Dance was voted in the top 3 studio's in this area...it is amazing that we won this top honor in just 7 short years.  The studio that held the #1 Dance Studio title for the last 13 years in a row has an awesome reputation and has produced some of the area's most talented and skilled dancers for over 25 years so for Elite to be acknowledged in such great company, is just a tremendous blessing and honor for us.  

Please share my heartfelt thanks to the alumni for their support!

Cheri Motes - Urie

****  Shannon Baker Werthmann (DCC 1976, 77, 78, 79) is pleased to announce that her daughter, Brittany was selected as a Rockette.  She will be in the Macy's Day Parade and will be performing this season at Radio City Music Hall (she is based in NYC, not a part of the touring squad).  Below are a couple of rehearsal pictures since she doesn't have performance pictures yet. In the first picture, she is 5th from the left end of the line as you are looking at it.  Her leg is the one that is turned out.  In the 2nd picture, she is 3rd from the right end as you are looking at it (don't count the girl that you only see her elbow).  In this pic, mom says, ‘Brittany has a really nice pointed foot’.  Hilary (Brittany's twin sister) is also working in NYC.   She just got through with a national tour of My Fair Lady.   In the 1st picture, Hilary is standing (on the right side of the picture).  She is wearing black and is on profile.  In the 2nd picture, she is the only girl.  I guess we know where Shannon will be spending Thanksgiving!  Road trip anyone?????
