Jan/ Feb- Alumni Army
*** December 4th saw over 40 alumni and elf helpers descend on the DCC studio at Valley Ranch for stocking stuffing, Christmas tree decorating, food, and festive fun! A ‘buffet line’ of Cowboys merchandise was set up and in record time, 1.5 hours to be exact, over 600 stockings were stuffed for the annual Children’s Hospital visits made by current Cowboys players and our own DCC. I actually budgeted around 4 hours- a little instruction was given, the troops were rallied, and boom, it was done! It was a special time for alumni who brought their children to Valley Ranch for the first time. The sense of pride I saw in my sisters eyes as they showed them the locker room, where their lockers used to be, the pictures of all the current DCC, and finally the dreaded door to Kelli’s office that strikes fear in young girls every season on ‘Making the Squad’ and alumni to this day, really warmed my heart.

Dina Brown Donley (DCC ’87 & ’89) and her son getting the pencils ready!
Michelle Druga Fraser (DCC ’86 & ’94) with her stocking stuffing game face!
Sisters sharing that Christmas cheer! Tina Miller Kalina (DCC ’84, ’88-90) and Michele Messer Hazle (DCC ’82-85)
Meanwhile, in the other end of the studio, Natalie Cross Eddleman (DCC ’91-93) and her drill team were excitedly assembling the brand new, 12 ft. tall, DCC Christmas tree! Our previous tree mysteriously disappeared in storage much to my delight... bless it’s heart, it had seen better days. I shared the history of our ornaments with the girls and they thought it was ‘really cool’ that each girl had a chance to share a bit of herself and that we had 16 years worth of ornaments to place on the tree. A big thank you goes out to Michele Taylor Sharp’s (DCC ’88-90) husband who was the lone male in the room and took on ladder duty and placed the big, pink star atop the tree.
Papa John’s brought enough pizza and Pepsi to feed an army and a hungry army we were! Stories were swapped and pictures snapped as the pizza disappeared. All the alumni and their little elves left full on pizza and the satisfaction of a job well done. The Christmas spirit was spread and shared by all.
In appreciation of our efforts, Emily Robbins- Community Relations Director for the Dallas Cowboys, mentioned us in an article written about the Cowboys charitable activities during the holidays. I think we are now the ‘official stocking stuffers’ of the Dallas Cowboys!
